Hisham Mohammad

Hisham Mohammad

Hisham Mohammad was born with spinal atrophy, a condition that causes severe muscle weakness. Rehabilitation services were almost non-existent in his native Saudi Arabia and finding even basic equipment like a wheelchair was difficult.

William Iain Stewart

William Iain Stewart

Iain Stewart was born in 1926 in Wishaw, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in his early 20s and met and married his wife Joan in Vancouver, BC, in 1954. They had seven children.

Aluki Chupik-Hall

Aluki Chupik-Hall

Six-year-old Aluki Chupik-Hall has severe scoliosis, an often-painful condition that requires her to wear a back brace for up to 23 hours a day and, when she is older, possibly having to undergo surgery to fuse her spine.

Shira Stanfield

Shira Standfield became a paraplegic while rock-climbing in France in 1995 but she didn’t let that stop her from achieving her dreams.
